About Coco
Inspired by the incredible true story of a woman who rose from poverty and abandonment to create one of the world’s most successful and iconic brands. Coco forged the unprecedented path of an independent businesswoman throughout the upheavals of the 20th century. Her name and her brand, reign to this day.
A rock star in the fashion world, she was lured to Hollywood under the auspices of Samuel Goldwyn to costume such film stars as Jean Harlow and Marlene Dietrich. She costumed the Ballet Russes dancers, inspired painters, impresarios and composers, all who are glimpsed through dance elements, lyrics, and musical parody.

The Show
In this production, Coco’s many successes are punctuated by the tragedy, mystery and passion in her personal and professional life.
The music parallels stylistic trends of French cabaret, contemporary English opera, North American film, as well as expressionism inherent in the nascent German operatic boom prior to World War II.

Event Location
The Château de Crémat, built in 1906, is “an architectural jewel on the heights of Nice”.
During the Roaring Twenties, the whimsical Irene Bretz, a wealthy shareholder in an American railway company, took over the Château. From 1923, she undertook major renovation work under the direction of the Charles Dalmas architectural firm, which was working on the construction of the Carlton in Cannes. She received all the celebrities of the Côte d’Azur, including a certain Gabrielle Chasnel – better known as Coco.
It is said that she was inspired by the initials of the Château de Crémat, two intertwined C’s, to create the logo of her prestigious fashion house.
